Welcome to Bexcom

Karin Bendixen is a journalist (member of The Danish Union of Journalists) and holds a M.A. in Journalism & Sociology (cand.public) from the University of Aarhus. She has a Diploma in Internet Journalism and has taken courses in Labour Market Issues and Usability training.

 Bexcom started in 2004. The company is dealing with:

  • Communication focusing on Design for All, inclusive design and user driven innovation
  • Journalism
  • Consultancy in user testing; user driven innovation involving industry in collaborating with the disability organisations
  • Research
  • Advising in Design for All / inclusive design matters
  • Teaching / presentations / workshops

Bexcom is co-operating with national and internatonal companies, organisations, consultancies and network in the field of Design for All, inclusive design, as well as with industrial designers, architects, planners, engineers, occupational therapists, disability organisations, design and architect schools.

France: The French Ministry of Culture and Communications invited Karin to hold the lecture: "How to communicate, share knowledge and to promote the practice of accessibility" at the major international seminar: "Accessibility of the Heritage European Seminar" that took place in the Galerie des Bataille, Versailles Castel 17th to 18th March 2011. The conference was organised by Tuttimobi. More than 350 museum professionals, architects, representatives of ministries and cultural heritage and user organizations participated. 

Japan: In november 2010 Karin has lectured in Japan at the "3rd International Conference on UD in Hamamatsu 2010".

U.S.: "Cultural catalysts to inclusive / socially sustainable design" was the title of Karin's lecture at the Boston big event "Build Boston" in november 2010. The Institute for Human Design Centre, IHDC, invited Karin, and IHCD sponsored this part of the event. 

Karin has since 2008 been a member of the board of Danish Designers and was reelected by DDs General Meeting, held in June 2010 in Aarhus.

Karin Bendixen fÃ¥r overrakt Vanførefondens Opmuntringspris2010 af Pia GjellerupKarin receives Award: The Danish Disability Foundation (Vanførefonden) awards the “Encouragement Price” of 3.275 EUR to Karin. The chairman of the Foundation former Finance Minister Pia Gjellerup presented the Prize to Karin on Tuesday 25 May 2010 at the National Museums ballroom in Copenhagen.

About The “Encouragement Price”: “The Foundation awards the “Encouragement Price” to someone who has done a selfless and remarkable efforts to facilitate daily life for people with disability.”

Bexcom participates as a partner in the i-SIT Project, a project under the government program for user driven innovation. Karin is responsible for involving users and user needs during the lifetime of the project and for the communication of the project.
